Video Music Awards 2023: tutte le nomination di quest’anno

Sono state ufficialmente annunciate le nomination dell’edizione 2023 dei Video Music Awards (VMA), e anche l’Italia è presente grazie ai Maneskin! A dominare, però, è Taylor Swift, candidata in ben otto categorie. A seguire con sei SZA, con cinque Doja Cat, Kim Petras, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo e Sam Smith e, infine, con quattro le BLACKPINK, Diddy e Shakira. Ma vedremo quanti di loro riusciranno anche a portarsi il premio a casa!

I Video Music Awards (VMA) sono una cerimonia di premiazione musicale annuale organizzata da MTV, nati nel 1984 e rapidamente divenuti uno degli eventi più riconosciuti e influenti nell’industria musicale e nell’intrattenimento. I premi VMA vengono assegnati per i migliori video musicali dell’anno, in diverse categorie che coprono generi musicali diversi, come pop, rock, hip-hop, R&B e altri. I vincitori sono selezionati attraverso votazioni dai fan, professionisti dell’industria musicale e membri della giuria MTV.

I Maneskin ai VMA dello scorso anno

Oltre alla presentazione dei premi, i VMA sono noti per le loro esibizioni dal vivo spettacolari e spesso innovative da parte di artisti di fama mondiale. Molte esibizioni ai VMA sono diventate memorabili e hanno contribuito a definire la cultura pop dell’epoca. Nel corso degli anni, i VMA hanno visto momenti iconici, controversie, outfit stravaganti e discorsi incisivi. L’evento ha contribuito a plasmare e riflettere le tendenze culturali e musicali del momento, facendone un’appuntamento annuale importante per gli amanti della musica e dei media.

Nell’edizione del 2023 degli MTV VMAs è stata introdotta una nuova categoria: “Best Afrobeats”. Questo segna il terzo genere musicale a ricevere una categoria dedicata nei VMAs nel nuovo millennio, seguendo l’aggiunta delle categorie Latin nel 2006 e K-pop nel 2019. Le altre cinque categorie di genere dei VMAs sono state tutte inaugurate nel secolo scorso: Rock nel 1989, Alternative nel 1991, R&B nel 1993 e infine Pop e Hip-hop, entrambe nel 1999.

Tra l’altro, per la prima volta dalla creazione della categoria “Artista dell’Anno” agli MTV VMAs nel 2017, tutti i candidati sono donne: Beyoncé, Doja Cat, Karol G, Nicki Minaj, Shakira e Taylor Swift. Questa edizione segna inoltre il debutto di due candidate provenienti dal mondo della musica latina. Nel corso dell’anno scorso, Bad Bunny è stato il primo artista latino a essere nominato e ha trionfato in questa stessa categoria.

La data per i VMA di quest’anno è martedì 12 settembre alle 20 (ora di New York) in diretta dal Prudential Center di Newark, in New Jersey. Il conduttore non è stato ancora annunciato. Jack Harlow, LL Cool J e Nicki Minaj hanno condotto lo show l’anno scorso, che si è tenuto nella stessa sede. I fan possono già votare tramite il sito vote.mtv.com, la deadline è venerdì 1 settembre, mentre la Best New Artist sarà attiva anche durante lo show.
